Tiara Ross: Priorities for a Stronger Columbus

As a lifelong Columbus resident, attorney, and community advocate, Tiara Ross is running for office with a bold, people-first agenda focused on making our city safer, more equitable, and more accountable to the people who call it home. Her priorities reflect years of service—both inside government and on the ground—working to build a Columbus where every resident has a fair shot.

Safe and Thriving Neighborhoods

Every family deserves to feel safe in their community—but safety means more than just policing. Tiara knows that lasting public safety comes from strong neighborhoods, stable housing, and trust between residents and the institutions that serve them.

  • Expanded investment in community-based violence prevention programs.

  • Support for Community Immersion Training for police officers—developed by Tiara herself—to build relationships and reduce bias.

  • Strengthened oversight and accountability for law enforcement.

  • Investment in non-violent mental health crisis response teams as alternatives to police for non-violent emergencies.

Affordable and Dignified Housing

Columbus is growing, but too many are being left behind. Tiara will fight to ensure that every resident—no matter their zip code—has access to quality, affordable housing.

  • Protection and expansion of affordable housing options across Columbus

  • Increased support for tenant protections and legal assistance for renters

  • Incentives for responsible development that center affordability, accessibility, and sustainability

  • Collaboration with community land trusts and nonprofits to stabilize neighborhoods and prevent displacement

  • Restore and expand city programs that help seniors fix code violations and stay in their homes—so aging in place is a right, not a privilege

Government That Works for the People

Tiara has spent her career inside and outside of government, and she knows that real accountability starts with leadership. As a public servant, she has pushed for reforms and transparency—and she’ll bring that same focus to office.

  • Prioritize transparency and ethical leadership in every corner of city government

  • Expand opportunities for public input and participatory budgeting, so residents have a real say

  • Streamline city services and ensure resources are reaching the communities that need them most

Opportunity and Equity for All

Tiara believes that Columbus can be a city where opportunity is real—for everyone. That means removing barriers and expanding access across the board, from education to jobs to the justice system.

  • Partner with schools and nonprofits to expand youth mentorship, after-school, and summer programs

  • Support reentry and workforce development for returning citizens

  • Champion policies that promote racial and economic equity in every city initiative

  • Create real pathways to opportunity in underserved neighborhoods, especially communities of color

Tiara’s Values in Action

From launching Columbus’ Community Immersion training program to serving as Deputy Chief of the City Attorney’s Property Action Team and General Counsel for the City’s Department of Inspector General, Tiara Ross has always fought to center community voice in government decisions. She’s not running for office to talk about problems—she’s running to get to work and deliver for the people of Columbus.
